Venues are complex businesses. Their software doesn’t need to be.

For years, enterprise software has conditioned us to believe that greater capability inevitably means greater complexity. More functionality means more menus, more steps, more training and more work for the people using the system.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

Many legacy platforms have accumulated complexity over decades. New requirements emerged, new functionality was added, and new technologies were layered onto what came before. Over time, software intended to make complicated work easier began asking users to manage the complexity of the software itself.

“Capability is having the power to absorb complexity. Complexity is making the user deal with it.”

That distinction matters in the venue industry. Convention centers, arenas, stadiums, performing arts centers and other venues really are complex organizations. They manage intricate sales processes, event calendars, spaces, contracts, services, operations, financial workflows, integrations and enormous amounts of data.

They need highly capable technology. But capability doesn’t have to come at the expense of simplicity.

That’s the idea behind Thynk. We built Thynk on Salesforce, giving us an enterprise platform with extraordinary capability, security, extensibility, reporting, automation and AI already underneath it.

Then we added something equally important: deep knowledge of the event and venue business.

Instead of asking every venue to start with an enterprise platform and build its business processes from scratch, we’ve already done much of that work. The workflows, terminology, relationships and functionality venue teams need are built into Thynk from the start.

That means less foundational customization, faster and less expensive implementation, and a platform that is more intuitive to the people who actually use it. And because every venue is different, it remains flexible enough to accommodate the things that make each organization unique.

So when we say “capable, not complex,” this is what we mean.

Venues are complex by nature. The technology they rely on shouldn’t add complexity. It should make it easier to manage.

That’s what we believe good venue technology should do: handle the complexity without becoming complex itself.
